BeTibet

On 13 February 1913, the 13th Dalai Lama proclaimed the independence of Tibet. To mark the 100th anniversary of Tibetan Independence Day, TYAE launched the "Be Tibet" celebration in 2013. At "Be Tibet" we celebrate the history and culture of Tibet.

Trunkar Gorshey Flashmob

On the birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, TYAE organises the aforementioned "Trunkar Gorshey Flashmob". At various locations in Zurich, Tibetans gather for gorshey (Tibetan circle dance) to celebrate the birthday of H.H. the Dalai Lama and at the same time draw the attention of passers-by to the Tibetan cause.

Workshops

The preservation, cultivation and promotion of Tibetan culture is one of the aims of TYAE. Our cultural work group Rikshung regularly organises workshops on Tibetan Buddhism and other aspects of our culture. Rikshung organisiert hierfür regelmässig Workshops über den tibetischen Buddhismus und andere Aspekte unserer Kultur.

Tibet Film Festival

The Tibet Film Festival (TFF) is a collaboration between Filming for Tibet and TYAE. Every year, films are shown over several days in Zurich, Dharamshala and Berlin and forums are offered where the audience and filmmakers can exchange ideas and discuss Tibetan filmmaking and the Tibetan cause. The festival is dedicated to the Tibetan filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen, who was arrested after completing the shooting of his documentary film "Leaving in Fear Behind". On 28 December 2009, Dhondup Wangchen was sentenced to six years in prison by a Chinese court for his film. He has been living in exile in the USA since 2017. Leaving Fear Behind was completed in Switzerland by Filming for Tibet and screened worldwide.
