Our Association

Become active

More than 50 years have passed since the illegal occupation of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China and the first Tibetan Refugees. But the will to stand up for Tibet’s legitimate independence and to preserve its own culture and language is far from broken. There are Tibet supporters and NGOs all over the world who support the Tibet movement in various areas.

As a non-profit organisation, wer are dependent on your donation. Help us to support the Tibetan Youth in Europe in their various activities. Your support will help to ensure that the Tibetan cause is not forgotten by the public.

In addition to membership, we offer you the opportunity to support our association with financial donations as well as patronage and sponsorship contributions. The whole association works on a voluntary basis. All income flows directly into the realisation of our activities.

WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT US

Tibet has been occupied by the People's Republic of China since 1949. Since then, over 1.2 million Tibetans have lost their lives as a result of Chinese military rule. Arbitrariness, torture, political and cultural oppression are causing the Tibetans to resort to ever more drastic measures. In addition to the daily reports of arrests and torture, the increasing number of self-immolations in Tibet since March 2011 is particularly shocking. Young Tibetans in particular are protesting against Chinese repression in this way. Officially, 126 mostly young Tibetans have set themselves on fire in protest to date.

Since its foundation in 1970, the Association Tibetan Youth in Europe (VTJE) has mediated between the generations and environments of the Tibetan communities in Europe, but especially in Switzerland. It is therefore the aim of the VTJE to unite the various interests of Tibetan youth in Europe and to serve as their mouthpiece. With direct actions, campaigns and public relations work, but also by communicating culture, religion and language, the VTJE is committed to ensuring that Tibet is not forgotten and that change happens.

With your donation you support the commitment of the Tibetan youth in exile and give the Tibetans in Tibet a voice.

We thank you for your support.

Join a section to actively help shape the life and work of the association.

In many cases, it was young people who played a decisive role in shaping key moments in human history, which then led to major changes in society and the writing of new history. Together we are strong and can support each other.

Patrones and Sponsors

Patrons receive an annual report including a financial report at the end of the association year. In it you will find out how the financial resources have been utilised. In cooperation with the Swiss-Tibetan Friendship Association, we also send you the quarterly magazine "Tibet Focus", which reports on current topics and events. Sponsors are also invited to an end-of-year drinks reception and, if desired, their first and last names are listed on our website.

What is the difference between patrons and sponsors?
Patrons are friends of the association and support it financially with a freely selectable annual sum of money starting at CHF 60. Once you have registered as a patron, you will automatically receive an annual invoice for the defined amount from us until further notice.

The difference between a sponsor and a patron lies in the amount or scope of the contribution. The sponsor is contacted annually by us regarding the amount, while the patron receives an invoice from us until further notice.
