About Us
Our Work
For over 50 years, the Tibetan Youth Association in Europe (TYAE) has provided a platform for young Tibetans from all over Europe to network, exchange ideas and get involved politically, culturally and socially.
The violent and illegal occupation of Tibet by the People's Republic of China must never be forgotten. At a political level, TYAE is therefore doing everything in its power to improve the human rights situation in Tibet and to fight for a free Tibet. With national and international protest actions and campaigns, lobbying work, meetings with parliamentarians, political initiatives, panel discussions, action camps, the organisation of youth parliaments, international solidarity rallies and cross-movement actions, TYAE works on various platforms to represent the demands of the oppressed Tibetan people in public in the West and at the same time to strengthen the political awareness of Tibetan youth.
In the area of culture, TYAE is committed to the preservation, cultivation and promotion of Tibetan culture through cultural workshops, film festivals, Gorshey events and social media. The Rikshung working group and the individual chapters make a particularly important contribution here.
Since its foundation in 1970, TYAE has set itself the goal of creating a place where young Tibetans can meet and exchange ideas. Even after more than 50 years since its foundation, the association still pursues this goal and offers various opportunities for this through events and meetings, but also through the regional chapters. TYAE has also set itself the goal of supporting the Tibetan community in Switzerland. TYAE provides an important counselling and contact point with the Shenpen work group, particularly in the area of asylum, administrative matters or language barriers for Tibetans in Switzerland. Finally, the promotion of children and young people is also a central concern of the TYAE. With its annual children's and teenagers' camps and events, TYAE aims to provide a platform specifically for Tibetan children and teenagers.
