Tibet Film Festival

The Tibet Film Festival (TFF) is the result of a collaboration between the associations “Filming for Tibet” and “Tibetan Youth Association in Europe”. Whereas in Dharamsala, the association “Filming for Tibet” acts jointly with “Students for a Free Tibet India” in order to organize the festival.

During three days inspiring short films and interactive platforms, such as workshops and forums, are provided. That way, the audience as well as the film makers are able to exchange opinions on cinematic legacy and on the Tibet issue.

The Tibet Film Festival is dedicated to the Tibetan film maker, Dhondup Wangchen, who was detained shortly after finishing filming his documentary “Leaving Fear Behind“. On 28 December 2009, Dhondup Wangchen was sentenced to six years in prison due to his filming activities. The production of “Leaving Fear Behind” was finalized in Switzerland by the association “Filming for Tibet” and was thereupon shown all over the world.
