The Tibetan word „Semshuk“ means motivation or strong will („Sem“ = Heart, “shuk” = power, in context with Tibet: to fight wholeheartedly for Tibet). We have chosen this name to show our desire to free all Tibetans all over the world. The world public has to know about the crisis in Tibet. And it is our duty to draw their attention to the situation of our homeland and also fight for our birth right.
We try to support newly arrived Tibetans in their process of integration in Switzerland, specifically in Rapperswil-Jona. For that reason, we have organized a German class that has been going on for a year now. It is our aim to help them to communicate in this new country in order to be able to stand on their own feet.
We also organize social events like the anual beach volleyball tournament in Jona. It is our main fundraising event. And we also participate in social events organized by other sections to strengthen our teamwork within our section and also between the different sections.
At the beginning, we were a loose group of Tibetans and Tibet-supporters. Today, after a lot of actions and social events, we have become a strong team and friends who meet each other not just for the Tibetan cause. If you are interested to support the TYAE, come join us! You can write an email or just come to one of our parties and we can have a nice chat.
